Who we are
Keys in hand to our own vineyard, our first ten years in France (2002 to 2012) passed in a frankly, quite fabulous, on the job education in wine making and viticulture.
“The decade rushed by in a hazy blur of wine making”
The decade rushed by in a hazy blur of wine making, viticulture and wine appreciation alongside new parenthood and various renovation projects – one of which soon became the focus for the next 10 years…
In 2010 after securing the purchase of a property in St Emilion – the building had huge potential but needed love. It was perfectly positioned in the centre of the historic town yet overlooking vineyards. After 2 years of major renovations and a good lick of paint, Le Pavillon Villemaurine was born – and quickly ranked as the top rated accommodation in St Emilion – a great little boutique wine hotel/maison d’hotes with a loyal fan base of repeat guests making regular appearances, who created such a buzz with their kind recommendations that word of mouth was all that was necessary to fill the rooms with the most interesting and interested of wine lovers. Their shared passion for great wines & delicious food, the eclectic mix of international views and local influences, the full & open appreciation of all the good things in life ensured Le Pavillon became a very special and rewarding place to stay, or to work.
Le Pavillon has always been more than just a comfortable bed in a lovely location – we specifically aimed (& succeeded) to create the feel of a members club (with a tasty thirst!). Guests relished the wines offered to them and the personal insight into the local wine world, responding with an overwhelming generosity of spirit, which they shared with their fellow wine lovers.
Our love of wine
We hope to bring that same spirit to this new ancillary venture, BordeauxRed.com, which will focus on great quality, local wines from our region, which we have selected.
BordeauxRed.com is primarily aimed at existing clients of the Pavillon but we would love you to extend the offer to your friends and colleagues too – word of mouth is the most important and special referral that anyone can give – a huge compliment which we thank you for!
After working in and around wines for the last 20 years, as a wine maker, vineyard owner, wine advisor and wine lover, BordeauxRed.com really seems like a natural progression to run alongside the Pavillon – now that travel is limited, trust and taste, and personal recommendations are even more important than ever, so I intend to offer a series of different mixed cases from this area throughout the year.
For those who are able to travel, we will hopefully catch up with you in St Emilion soon, for others, this will bring a little bit of St Emilion, Pomerol and the Bordeaux vineyards directly to you.
